Upbringing
Mike Elam’s story is one of dedication, hard work, and a deep love for the community he’s called home for most of his adult life.
Raised by two dedicated and caring parents, Mike learned the values of service, education, and integrity from an early age. His father, a Baptist pastor, instilled in him the importance of faith, compassion, and the desire to help others. His mother, an elementary school teacher, taught him the significance of hard work, discipline, and the power of education to shape a better future.
Mike’s upbringing in a household grounded in faith and public service formed the foundation for his lifelong commitment to his community. He went on to a career in both business and local media, where he used his communication skills to advocate for his community.
Qualifications
A Navy Veteran, in 2013, Mike took the step to enter public service, running for St. Charles County Council. His ability to connect with people, his experience in the business world, and his leadership qualities quickly made him a trusted figure in local government.
Elected to the County Council, Mike has served three terms as Chairman, earning the respect of his colleagues for his collaborative leadership style and his ability to tackle tough issues with a steady hand. Mike has always prioritized making decisions that benefit the entire community, ensuring that St. Charles County remains a safe, prosperous, and vibrant place to live.
Whether working to attract new businesses, supporting public safety initiatives, or advocating for fiscal responsibility, Mike’s leadership has helped make St. Charles County one of Missouri’s most thriving regions. Under his guidance, the county has been recognized as the healthiest, wealthiest, and one of the most educated counties in Missouri.

Mike's community ties run deep. Over the years, he has been an active volunteer in local organizations, serving on various boards, and getting involved in numerous initiatives that have helped improve life for everyone in St. Charles County. He understands the needs of local families, from the challenges of affordable housing to the importance of maintaining safe streets and ensuring good schools for the next generation.
Family
Mike is a proud father of three children and now enjoys the joy of being a grandfather to two beautiful grandchildren. His family is the cornerstone of his life, and it’s because of his love for his children and grandchildren that Mike is so passionate about creating a future where all families in St. Charles County can succeed.
