WHO I AM & WHY I’M RUNNING
I’m Mike Elam – a longtime Councilman, family man, and proud Missourian who was born in
Doniphan and raised in Arkansas. I've lived in St. Charles County since 1991. For the past 12
years on the County Council, I’ve helped make St. Charles County Missouri’s safest, smartest,
and strongest county. I’m running for County Executive because I believe we’re just getting
started.
1. SAFE COMMUNITIES AND STRONG LAW ENFORCEMENT
- Fully fund law enforcement with the tools, training, and technology they need to
protect our neighborhoods
- Support our prosecutors and judges to ensure criminals are held accountable – no
revolving doors here
- Strengthen community policing and neighborhood watch efforts across the county
- Work across jurisdictions to stop crime before it reaches us
- Public safety is the foundation of prosperity – and I’ll never compromise on it
2. BUILDING THE WORKFORCE OF TOMORROW – RIGHT HERE AT HOME
- Launch 'Stay Here, Succeed Here' to attract high-tech and high-skill jobs in healthcare,
manufacturing, IT, logistics, and trades
- Expand partnerships with schools, community colleges, and trade programs to build
career pipelines
- Champion apprenticeship and workforce development grants for underserved
communities, veterans, and those seeking a second chance to thrive
- Promote local entrepreneurship with seed funding, business incubators, and
mentorships
- Make St. Charles County the home for Missouri’s next generation of jobs
3. EXPANDING INFRASTRUCTURE & QUALITY OF LIFE – WITHOUT RAISING TAXES
- Build on our momentum from multiple highway expansion projects, including the
largest MoDOT grant ever awarded to the I-70 corridor
- Improve traffic safety and mobility across the county by finishing key projects and
planning ahead
- Keep housing attainable for families, seniors, and our next generation, by working with
cities and developers
- Expand parks, trails, and open spaces to keep our county beautiful and active
- Improve flood preparedness and emergency response systems so our communities are
protected
4. EDUCATION, INNOVATION, & SMART GROWTH
- Work with top-performing districts and colleges to strengthen STEM, trades, and realworld
skill learning
- Prepare students for jobs that exist – not just degrees
- Ensure our growth is smart – so we don’t lose the character and charm that make St.
Charles special
